What is Group Case Consultation?
This is a 2-hour online consultation session where you bring real cases from your practice and receive guidance from Dr. Abi, an expert in Somatic Psychology and Embodiment Practices.
You'll have the opportunity to present challenges you're facing with clients and ask questions, gaining insight about somatic interventions that help clients grow. Learn alongside other practitioners working through similar questions.
The format is collaborative. Dr. Abi facilitates the group and helps you think through what's happening in the body and nervous system. Dr. Abi will educate you on general concepts across foundational somatic modalities, including Hakomi, Sensory Awareness, BodyMind Centering, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Gestalt, Somatic Experiencing, Bodynamics, Bioenergetics, and more!
Designed for You
This consultation is designed for therapists, coaches, and healers who are interested in learning about how to apply somatic principles and learn skills to support their clients.
You might find this valuable if you want to:
- Understand why and how you might guide a client's attention to the body
- Learn somatic skills in early development, attachment movement patterns, character structure, body armor, survival physiology patterns, application of polyvagal theory, and trauma renegotiation.
- Transition from theory to practice and building your confidence
- Receive peer learning opportunities and network with global practitioners
- Refine your ability to make informed somatic interventions
- Feel inspired in your practice with new skills and capacity
All levels of Somatic Interested Practitioners are Welcome
I Want to RegisterWhat You'll Gain
Increased Confidence in Your Clinical Work
Receive tailored guidance from Dr. Abi on the specific cases and questions you bring. Plus, hear summaries about best practices across somatic modalities.
Practical Application of Somatic Concepts
From theory to real-world applications. Understand how to work with nervous system states, developmental movement, and body armoring, and make trauma-informed moment-to-moment choices in session.
Peer Learning in a Supportive Group
Learn from the cases that other practitioners present. Hear how others navigate similar challenges and gain insight and skills you can bring back into your practice.
Submitting Cases & Confidentiality
You can attend without presenting a case. Many people learn just as much from observing how Dr. Abi works with other practitioners' cases. You'll hear the questions others are asking, the guidance Dr. Abi provides, and how different clinicians are using somatic practices. The group format allows for multiple perspectives. You'll hear from peers who may have encountered similar situations or tried approaches you haven't considered yet.
You're welcome to present a case from your practice. If you choose to present, you'll share a brief description of your client, the goals your client has, the challenges you're encountering, any somatic practices you've tried (if any), and what you're hoping to understand better. Dr. Abi will ask questions, offer observations, and help you discover new somatic skills and approaches. If you want to submit a case for consideration, you don't need to write much to be offered a spot for consultation. This isn't required, it simply gives Dr. Abi a chance to review what you're working with. Please submit questions three days before the consultation so she has time to review them.
