Psychiatry and SE for Sleep Issues


This special group consult will be led by faculty member Abi Blakeslee, SEP, MFT, Ph.D and guest psychiatrist Jessica Sperber, SEP, MD.

This is an SE and psychiatry oriented consultation for SE students and SEPs focused on issues surrounding sleep. Dr. Blakeslee and Dr. Sperber will focus on how to treat sleep issues in relation to nervous system dysregulation and mood disorders such as depression and anxiety.

They will discuss how certain medications used to treat sleep disorders may affect the physiology and interact with what the SE practitioner is tracking. They will also cover the benefits and challenges of the use of certain sleep medications during SE treatment, and explore medications that support physiological resilience.

Location: online via online meeting platform Zoom (log-in details will be sent 1 week prior to the consultation)
Cost: $80 USD
Consultation credit: this consultation will count for 1 faculty consultation credit towards SEP requirements

NOTE: For confidentiality reasons, this consultation will not be recorded. Participants must attend online via Zoom during the actual consultation time.

All registrants may submit a case or question for consideration via email (, no later than Saturday, August 3, 2019.

Dr. Sperber and Dr. Blakeslee will look over and consolidate information into themes and answer several general questions. Your case may be chosen out of the many that we receive. We will email you to let you know if you are chosen to present during this case consultation.

NOTE: Due to the high volume of interest we will not be able to cover every case or question. We look forward to your participation and presence.

Cancellation Policy

Due to the complexity of organizing multiple participants, you will not be able to cancel or transfer to another session once you have paid. However, you can transfer your place to another colleague in the training that you know. This will be your responsibility to coordinate and they can reimburse you.
